Film Noir Series
Film buffs will be able to see
movie classics from the film noir genre at 7:00pm, in
the large community meeting room at the Central
Library. Film noir is a style of filmmaking that
was popular in America at the end of World War II.
The films were based on detective novels and featured
crooked cops, dangerous dames and shady private
detective.

Rogue Valley Symphony
Presents: "Romance of the Horns"
The Rogue Valley Symphony's horn
section will perform Schumann's grand "Concert
Piece (Konzertstuck") for Four Horns" in three
performances the first weekend of November. First
performance Friday, November 3, 8pm at the SOU Music
Recital Hall in Ashland, the second is Saturday,
November 4, 8pm in Medford at the Craterian Ginger
Rogers Theater. The final performance will be Sunday,
November 5, 3pm in Grants pass at the Grants Pass High
School Performing Arts Center.

The
Southern Oregon Concert Band
Veteran's Day Celebration
Performs a special Veterans' Day
concert entitled "Americana" on Tuesday
November 7, at the Medford Armory. Beginning at 7pm
the Swing Kings Big Band will get things started with
dance favorites from the 40's and 50's. At 8pm, the
75-member Southern Oregon Concert Band will perform
"Americana", a program of concert works and
patriotic music.
The concert is free of
charge, thanks to a generous grant from AmeriTitle and
contributions from many of the Band's
supporters.

Scottish Bagpipe Band
One of the oldest continuing
Bagpipe Bands in the West is celebrating it's 75th
anniversary, holding a Tartan Ball on Friday
November 10, 7-11pm, at the .
Black Tie affair with finger foods
provided and a no host bar. Door prizes offered, and a
Scottish Basket Hilt Sword and Handmade "Tudor
Rose" Quilt will be raffled off.
Tickets: $35 each or $60 per
couple.

Rogue Valley
Veteran's Day Parade
This 2nd Annual parade will begin at
10:00am from the Eagle Point High School parking lot
and head east down Main Street to Royal Street.
Following the parade, a plaque honoring World War I
veterans will be placed on one of the large rocks at
the covered bridge at Main and Royal.
Entry blanks for the

1st Annual Turkey Shoot
Kids and adults pair up to give us your best
free throws during our annual family free throw
contest. Points are awarded for each
basket made, rim shots and misses.
Groups are determined by the child’s age:
4-6, 7-9, 10-13 years old.
Prizes will be awarded to the top teams in
each age group. The cost for this event
is the donation of 3 canned goods or other
non-perishable items to be forwarded to Access
Inc. for distribution to those in need during
the holidays. Pre-registration is
required.

Winter
Light Festival
Come join the fun as Medford kicks off the
holiday season with the annual Winter Light
Festival. Downtown Medford will come alive
with decorations and holiday carols from
around the world sung by local school choirs.
Santa will also be there to greet the kids!
This is an all day event that includes
children’s activities, shopping specials by
merchants, entertainment and the ever popular
Tree Lighting Ceremony in Vogel Plaza. There
will also be a food drive for Access.
Santa arrives in Medford at Vogel Plaza to
meet and greet kids at 5pm; the Tree Lighting
Program includes Choirs, Santa and Mrs. Claus
beginning at 6:30pm.

Rogue Valley Railroad
Show - 29th Annual
Model railroad displays, door prizes, swap
meet, raffles and more!
This Thanksgiving weekend, will be the 29th Annual Rogue Valley
Railroad Show inside the Medford Armory.
There will be numerous model railroad
layouts of all gauges (N-HO-S-G-O-Z-Lionel).
In addition to the operating model railroad
layouts there will be a large railroad
information display by the Southern Oregon
Chapter, NRHS, the Southern Oregon Live
Steamers, Operation Lifesaver, Southern
Oregon Historical Society, and more.
Railroad videos are also featured on the
show floor. Upstairs in the Medford Armory
there are vendors selling everything from
model trains, T-shirts, photos, railroad
books and more. There are hourly door prizes
and raffles, and there is food service
inside the armory.
There are numerous motel rooms available in
the immediate area around the Medford
Armory. Right across the street from the
armory is Central Oregon & Pacific
Railroad's former SP Siskiyou Line.
All show proceeds go to support and improve
the Medford Railroad Park in Medford, OR.

of Trees
Christmas wonderland of decorated trees,
wreaths and stockings!
This fund raiser is sponsored by Providence
Medford Medical Center. the funds raised
from this year’s Festival of Trees will be
used to enhance cardiac services at
Providence Medford Medical Center through
improved, state-of-the-art technology.
Visitors will be able to stroll through a
mass of decorated trees, wreaths and holiday
vignettes created by local designers.
Everyone in the community is invited to tour
the spectacular trees and displays and to
participate in other festival activities for
young and old alike. Be sure to mark your
calendars for this spectacular event for the
whole family. You will not want to miss it!
