Rogue Valley Opera - La Bohème By Giacomo Puccini

rogue-opera.jpg (16601 bytes)Puccini’s masterpiece, La Bohème, arguably one of the world’s most beloved operas, will be the high point of Rogue Opera’s 2008–2009 Season. It is the heart-warming and heart-breaking story of six young Bohemian artists: a painter, a poet, a philosopher, and several musicians living a poverty- stricken but exuberant, creative existence in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Puccini’s beautiful and dramatically perfect melodic score makes us laugh and weep, touching our hearts with passion and pathos. Rent, the sensational Broadway musical and Hollywood movie, is based on the same premise of young, poor, creative artists, struggling with friendship, love, laughter and despair. Led by Producer and Stage Director Willene Gunn and Los Angeles Conductor David Aks, and featuring a richly talented cast of professional opera singers, full orchestra and chorus, with beautiful period costumes and sets, La Bohème promises to delight opera novices and aficionados alike.

Jackson County Community Concert Association -
The Swingle Singers

From their press release:
"Numerous Grammy Awards have catapulted eight-voice a cappella group, THE SWINGLE SINGERS, onto world-famous stages on every continent. Since their groundbreaking debut album Jazz Sebastien Bach in 1963, the group's name has become synonymous with extraordinary vocal blend and agility, immamculate execution and world-class entertainment.

"Although the current singers are considerably younger than their 'swingle seniors,' the group's trademark close-microphone, quasi-instrumentsl sound with which they originally stunned the world remains firmly intact. Enhanced by impressive choreography and dazzling light design, THE SWINGLE SINGERS swing Bach all the way to the Beatles with flawless, unmistakable style."

Camelot-Theatre-logo.jpg (23579 bytes)I Remember Mama

by John Van Drufen

Mama, with the help of her husband and Uncle Chris, brings up the children in their modest San Francisco home at the turn of the century. A sweet and capable manager, Mama sees her children through childhood, manages to educate them and proudly watches as one of her daughters begins her career as a writer. Mama's sisters and uncle furnish a rich background for a great deal of comedy and a touch of tragedy while the doings of the children keep eveyone in pleasant turmoil. No description can do justice to the rich characterizations that fill the author's canvas.
