Tracy Adkins

tracy-adkins.jpg (23414 bytes) Since he showed up in the country music world in 1996, Trace Adkins has become an undeniable musical force. With minimal fanfare but a considerable range of music, Adkins has evolved into a bona fide country music superstar. His songs include big, bold, witty hits like "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and songs rooted in country music traditions like "Dreamin' Out Loud" and "Every Light in the House." Adkins became even more well-known when he appeared as a contestant on NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice last year and wound up one of two finalists. Bob Weir & RatDogbobweir-ratdog.jpg (26635 bytes)

RatDog began as a laid-back blues ensemble in 1995, but has evolved into a snarling rock band with a fabulous jazz trio at its heart. Of course, all those forms are different facets of Bob Weir's unruly musical personality. Even when his first band, the Grateful Dead, was playing close to 100 shows a year, Weir maintained an active solo career. He then settled into a duo partnership with bassist Rob Wasserman that became RatDog. The band covers the majority of the Grateful Dead songbook, including Garcia classics like "Standing on the Moon," "St. Stephen," and "Touch of Grey," along with Weir's complete solo repertoire.

        Jackie Greene

jackiegreene.jpgOpening the concert is Jackie Greene, the Americana phenom from Sacramento who has steadily built up a passionate following among both fans and some of the biggest names in music. He's equally adept at acoustic finger-picking, ripping it up on the electric guitar, coloring a song on the electric piano or firing up a jam on the Hammond B-3. With his latest album Giving Up the Ghost Greene stretches musically, while still delivering plenty of the unvarnished Americana that has made him such a sensation.

Flyfishing Expedition at Crater Lake

Experience a unique, new flyfishing adventure - on Crater Lake's WiJeff Fishingzard Island!   Fish for large trout and experience the spectacular beauty of Crater Lake National Park.  With only a few visitors getting off the boat at the island, the group will have the island virtually to themselves and gain a unique perspective of the lake. Will Johnson, owner of The Ashland Fly Shop, will be on hand to help out.

The trip is limited to just seven participants, so reserve your space NOW.   The cost of the trip is $500 per person which includes park admission, boat tickets, box lunch and casting advice. Net proceeds of the event will benefit the work of the Trust to protect, promote and enhance Crater Lake.

TroutAccess to Wizard Island requires a fairly steep hike of just over a mile each way on the Cleetwood Cove trail.  There are however, plenty of resting spots along the way.  Fishing will require walking over uneven terrain and exposure to full sun, hopefully!

Participants with questions are encouraged to call the Trust at 541-608-5125.

All Together Now (movie night at Britt)

Alltogetherstill.jpgBritt is collaborating with Ashland Independent Film Festival to present this special film night at Britt. All Together Now is one of those rare times in history when two stellar groups of artists come together to create one outstanding show. Fueled by a dream from George Harrison and avant-garde performance troupe Cirque du Soleil director Guy Laliberte comes the stage show LOVE, a visual and musical circus spectacular. With rare Beatles archival footage, LOVE rehearsal footage and often hilarious interviews with all parties involved, All Together Now tells the tale of passion and perspiration that goes into preparing the latest Cirque show.

Laliberte, in consultation with The Beatles, creates a new piece of work through a series of innovative ideas that include hiring longtime Beatles producer Sir George Martin to create a new soundtrack limited to mixing and matching recordings only from the original sessions. The results are undeniably enjoyable, and All Together Now is a film for every Beatles or Cirque du Soleil fan.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited

Creedence_Clearwater.jpgStu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford may not have intended it, but their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited has taken on a startling life of its own. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from the legendary group Creedence Clearwater Revival launched the Creedence Clearwater Revisited project in 1995, to once again perform live Creedence Clearwater Revival hits like "Susie Q," "Proud Mary," "Down On The Corner," "Fortunate Son" and "Who'll Stop The Rain." Karen Lovely

karenlovely.jpgKaren Lovely sings the blues with soul, passion, fun and a whole lotta volume. She began singing in the church choir at age 10 but didn't start her professional career until years later, when her strong vocals captivated a London nightclub owner who heard her singing at a friend's wedding in 1987 and hired her on the spot. The Avett Brothers

avett-brothers.jpg (33438 bytes)The Avett Brothers return to Britt after a highly acclaimed appearance in 2008. Comprised of brothers Seth and Scott Avett on guitar and banjo, respectively, and Bob Crawford on stand-up bass, the band combines bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock ‘n' roll, honky tonk and ragtime. The result is a sound described by the San Francisco Chronicle as having the "heavy sadness of Townes Van Zandt, the light pop concision of Buddy Holly, the tuneful jangle of the Beatles, the raw energy of the Ramones." The band plans a summer 2009 release for their new album, which is produced by Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin. Their Britt performance is the only Oregon play of their summer tour.

heartless-bastards.jpg (45425 bytes)The Heartless Bastards

Garage rock band Heartless Bastards tour in support of their latest album The Mountain. The Mountain delivers the swamped-up rock howl that fans have come to love from the critically acclaimed Heartless Bastards, but it also weaves in an adventurous sonic evolution, expanding their three-piece rock palate by adding pedal steel, mandolin, banjo and strings, all in support of Erika Wennerstrom's transcendent voice that Rolling Stone once described as "channeling all the swagger and spit of a young Robert Plant."

Pink Martini Presents - Oregon! Oregon!
pinkmartini_phcredit.jpg

Oregon's own Pink Martini returns to Britt in a performance honoring Oregon's 150th birthday. In 1958, the Oregon Centennial Commission hired radio personality Stan Freberg to create a custom musical. The result was "Oregon! Oregon! A Centennial Fable in Three Acts." Pink Martini will perform an updated version of the musical, with an addition written by Pink Martini founder and pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale. Following intermission, they'll perform a set of their unique mix of sophisticated yet approachable music. Pink Martini draws from rhumba, neo-classical, Latin beats and more, and Lauderdale describes their music as, "bringing melodies and rhythms from different parts of the world together to create something which is modern."

Shirley Valentineshirleyvalentine.jpg (59146 bytes)

by Willy Russell
in association with triangle productions! and The Worcester Group

Shirley Valentine is a Liverpool housewife. Her children are grown and gone and her dull, predictable husband expects set meals on set days. They don't talk anymore; Shirley makes do by having an ongoing one-sided conversation with her kitchen wall. And just when it seems nothing will ever change-something does. Shirley's best friend wins a trip for two to Greece, and offers Shirley the chance to go. Will she take it?

In “Shirley Valentine,” our Liverpudlian Everywoman protagonist uses her very common tongue with humor, grace and eloquence to reveal her heart, enchant the audience, and take us with her as she decides whether-or not-to make a jailbreak.

Camelot-Theatre-logo.jpg (23579 bytes)Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks

by Richard Alfieri

Lily, an aging formidable woman in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, hires an ascerbic dance teacher to give her lessons. The initial antagonism between the widow of a Southern Baptist minister and Michael, her gay dance instructor, develops into profound compatability. As they swing dance, tango, foxtrot, and cha-cha, they reveal the painful and poignant moments of their lives. During the sixth and final lesson, Lily confesses a closely guarded secret. As Michael shares his loyalty and compassion, we are gifted with a story that transcends fear and mortality.
