Emigrant Lake is a large irrigation reservoir
with many recreational facilities. Sailing and windsurfing rentals, water skiing, or just
plain lounging around on a hot summers day can be had only 5 minutes out of
Ashland. The lake has an 80 acre park operated by the Jackson County Parks and
Recreation Department. It has a campground, picnic area, playing field, boat ramps, and
southern Oregons largest water slide. The campground has 42 spaces for recreational
vehicles; concrete pads and running water are available at each site (no electrical or
sewer hookups; showers, flush toilets, and a laundry, though.) Campsites and RV sites fill
up quickly in the summer, and reservations are suggested. There are many waterfowl
around the lake on its quieter winter and spring months: mallards, widgeons, coot,
mergansers, geese, and blue heron. If youre really lucky, you may even see an Osprey
diving into the watery depths for a trout. |
